I am a great planner and I like to pre-plan everything. For the hotel, I had decided on the Polo Orchid Rsort aemongst the lush green area of Cherapunjee. Known for its rains all over the year, Cherapunjee remains green and is a treat to the eyes. The resort that I booked had amazing user reviews, so I crossed my fingers and booked it. So as soon as I reached Shillong, I hired a taxi that took me straight to Cherapunjee. It was almost a two hour drive but the scenery was idyllic and had its own green charm. The driver was a chirpy guy and delighted me with all the facts about Cherrapunjee and its nearby areas.
After reaching the place, I realized why the resort had such great reviews. With an amazing view of the beautiful Seven Sisters fall, the resort is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city life and deadlines.
There were two types of rooms available in the resort, one being the Orchid rooms, the other being the cottages. I chose the cottages and was delightfully surprised. The room was uncluttered but at the same time had all the necessary amenities. The guests are given a number of standard services including internet access, travel desk, doctor on call and a 24 hour security. The hotel offered all the facilities a visitor would require and the staff was pleasant too. It was certainly a delight.
The location of the resort couldn’t have been more idyllic with many a famous tourist spots in walking distance including the 7 sisters fall, the Eco Park, and the Krem Mawmluh Cave. The resort is not very expensive and is an ideal choice for people visiting the city.
After a hectic journey, I decided to stay at the hotel and unwind. With the mesmerizing surroundings, it was not a difficult task to stay in. The cloudy sky and the crisp winds made it for the stay. Away from the hot Kanpur, the crispy climate of Cheerapunji was definitely welcomed.
