My Trip to the Famous Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyaan in Patna

Standard

After the famous Mahavira temple, I headed towards the Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyaan in Patna, which was famous for its wide collection of animals. The different kinds of birds and animals that could be spotted in the park were fascinating. I knew that the place was also known as the Sanjay Gandhi Botanical Garden and located in the famous Bailey Road near Patna. The park was open for public since 1973 and has been a major tourist destination since that time. It was also hailed as the famous tourist spot with around 36,000 tourists visiting it during special occasions like Christmas and New Year. The park was initially established in the year 1969 when it was just a botanical garden but latter the Governor of the state had offered some additional acres for its expansion.

I gathered that an extra 60 acres were added to the park and the revenue department was shifted to allow the expansion of the park. It was then that the park had started its work with full force. By the year 1973, the whole park had expanded and was open for the visitors.  The locals informed me that from the year 1973, the park was meeting the purpose of a botanical garden as well as of a zoo and the place was declared as protected by the Forest department. There were various species of animals and birds available in the zoo and it can be an ideal place if you are visiting along with family members and friends.

The Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyaan in Patna is home to nearly 800 animals of different species which included tiger, clouded leopard, crocodile, elephants, bear, bucks, deer, gharial, python, hippopotamus, leopard, white peacock, zebra, peafowl and many more. Apart from all the animals and birds, the botanic garden has different flora and fauna too. Various gardens and resting houses were also built in and around the park. There were food courts where one could enjoy various delicacies after a tiring day in the park. I too had some food and was quite excited to visit the place. From there I headed towards the Takht Sri Patna Sahib, which was another famous place in the city.
